Originally from Idaho, Teri is an award-winning author who currently lives in Toronto. Her twelve books include The Fiery Muse: Creativity and the Spiritual Quest and The Divine Feminine Fire: Creativity and Your Yearning to Express Your Self – an Amazon #1 bestseller in the feminist spirituality category. Teri’s books are on topics that range from creative writing to parenting and environmental activism. She has also researched and written extensively on the lives of highly creative women mystics, yoga philosophy, and comparative religion – with a particular interest in the divine feminine known as Shakti in Hinduism and the surprising parallels found in Sophia in Old Testament Christianity and Shekinah in Jewish Mysticism.  Her latest book an authorized biography of the late Kashmiri enlightened yogi, Gopi Krishna, has recently been published by the Institute for Consciousness Research. Gopi Krishna – A Biography is now available on Amazon and through IngramSparks.

After completing two books on parenting and two on environmental issues earlier in her writing career, Teri began to focus much of her work on topics related to creativity and contemporary spirituality, subjects with deep personal interest for her. Teri first began studying yoga in her twenties in Paris with a teacher who had lived in Mahatma Gandhi’s ashram for more than twenty years. Later, she attended Krishnamurti’s discourses in Saanen, Switzerland and eventually traveled to India to meet Gopi Krishna.

Teri’s early writing career was focused on the work she did after obtaining an MA from the University of New Mexico in the education and counseling of children with emotional/behavior problems. Since then her freelance writing on subjects including sports, fitness, holistic health, and ecology has appeared in many publications in the US and Canada. She teaches workshops on creative writing and creativity in both those countries.

An avid traveler, Teri has lived in Austria, Germany, and France as well as on a sailboat in the Bahamas. She is an enthusiastic swimmer and competes with a master’s synchronized swimming team. An active member of PEN Canada and The Writers’ Union of Canada, she sits on the union’s Freedom and Rights Committee and works actively on freedom of expression issues. She is a member of Institute for Consciousness Research and was one of the founders of the Kundalini Research Network in the United States.

Her publishers include, in Canada, Random House of Canada, Harper Collins Canada, and McClelland & Stewart and, in the U.S, Henry Holt & Co. and the Carol Publishing Group. She has been distributed in the U.S. by Harper Collins. In Germany, she has been published by Knaur Verlag and Aquamarin Verlag, and her books have also been translated into French and Italian. She has recently completed a historical fiction novel that deals with the life of Harvard psychologist and psychic researcher William James. She is also currently a student of Sanskrit.
